Adrenal Insufficiency (Addison’s Disease) Addison’s Disease; Addisonian Crisis Adrenal insufficiency, or Addison’s disease, is an abnormality of the adrenal glands with the destruction of the adrenal cortex and impairment of glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid production. This may be caused by an autoimmune condition, tuberculosis, fungal infection, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (
